MONROVIA, LIBERIA–As Liberia accelerates efforts to strengthen its healthcare system and expand access to quality medical services, the Ministry of Health has welcomed another valuable addition to its leadership team with the appointment of Hon. Memezie Peabody Kiadii as Assistant Minister for Policy and Planning.

The announcement was met with excitement and optimism as seasoned Liberian healthcare administrators, medical professionals, and senior Ministry officials gathered in a brightly lit conference room to welcome her into the institution’s leadership structure. The atmosphere reflected a shared commitment to advancing stronger health policies, strategic planning, and improved healthcare delivery for all Liberians.
With more than a decade of healthcare administration experience from the United States, Madam Kiadii joins the Ministry’s team of professionals with expertise expected to enhance evidence-based policymaking, strategic planning, and the implementation of reforms aimed at improving healthcare delivery and health outcomes across Liberia.
The Senior Management Team of the Ministry of Health officially welcomed Madam Kiadii during a ceremony attended by senior officials and staff of the Ministry, marking a new chapter in the Ministry’s efforts to advance health policy development, strategic planning, and data-driven decision-making.
The appointment strengthens the Ministry’s capacity to improve health sector planning, coordinate national health policies, engage development partners, and support the implementation of Liberia’s healthcare priorities.
Madam Kiadii assumed office following her appointment by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai on April 9, 2026, as part of a series of additional nominations and appointments aimed at strengthening governance and improving public service delivery across Liberia.
Delivering her acceptance remarks, Madam Kiadii expressed gratitude to God and appreciation to President Boakai and the Ministry’s leadership for entrusting her with the responsibility.
“Thank you, God. I also want to thank the Honorable Minister Dr. Louise M. Kpoto, Assistant Minister Attorney Chea, and President Joseph Nyuma Boakai for appointing me and for the confidence placed in me. I am deeply honored to stand before you today as Assistant Minister for Policy and Planning, and I do not take this responsibility lightly.”
Madam Kiadii also recognized the contributions of the Ministry’s technical departments, including the Directorates of Planning, Governance, External Aid, and the Financial Management Team, for their commitment to strengthening the Ministry’s operations.
“I appreciate all of you and look forward to a fruitful working relationship,” she told staff.
The newly appointed Assistant Minister praised Health Minister Dr. Louise M. Kpoto, describing her as a knowledgeable and inspiring leader whose expertise continues to give Liberians confidence in the country’s health sector.
“I’m not just saying this because she’s here. I think she’s great. She’s very knowledgeable, and we’re all Liberians, so Liberians should take pride in that.”
Madam Kiadii said her international experience and local connection to Liberia position her to make meaningful contributions to health sector reforms.
She explained that she spent ten years working in healthcare administration in the United States, where she gained experience in healthcare management, strategic planning, policy implementation, and service delivery.
Reflecting on her personal journey, Madam Kiadii recalled that she was born at home in Gbarnga, Bong County, and emphasized the importance of improving maternal and child healthcare nationwide.
“Like so many Liberians, I was born in my mother’s room. Those births tend not to be the safest, and improving maternal health is part of the work we must continue to champion.”
Madam Kiadii described the Planning Department as “the heart of the Ministry” and praised the dedication of its staff. She also commended Assistant Minister Attorney Chea for his commitment to public service.
“I know when I speak to Minister Chea, he’s always on the ground. Sometimes he’s up at three or four o’clock in the morning working. I genuinely look forward to working with all of you.”
She also highlighted her decision to leave a comfortable life in the United States and return home to contribute to Liberia’s development.
“Coming home is a big sacrifice, but it’s home. Life is great in the United States, but life is also great here. I wanted to work with this government, and I wanted to work with Dr. Kpoto since I first met her. I’m grateful for this opportunity.”
Madam Kiadii ended her remarks by calling for unity among Ministry staff and encouraging continued commitment toward improving healthcare delivery and achieving better health outcomes for Liberians.

A Daughter of Bong County
Hon. Memezie Peabody Kiadii proudly represents Bong County, where her family has deep historical roots. She also belongs to the distinguished Peabody family, a name associated with the county’s history and development.
She attended the historic William V.S. Tubman Gray High School in Gbarnga before pursuing higher education and building a professional career abroad.
Before returning to Liberia, Madam Kiadii spent more than a decade working in the United States healthcare administration system, where she developed expertise in healthcare operations, strategic planning, policy development, and service delivery.
Madam Kiadii described her career as a bridge between the American healthcare system and Liberia’s health sector, positioning her to contribute to ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening healthcare planning and improving service delivery nationwide.
As Assistant Minister for Policy and Planning, Madam Kiadii will lead efforts to coordinate national health policies, guide strategic planning processes, support monitoring and evaluation activities, strengthen resource mobilization efforts, and enhance collaboration with development partners.
Her appointment comes at a critical time as the Ministry of Health advances efforts to strengthen Liberia’s health system, expand access to quality healthcare services, improve maternal and child health outcomes, and support progress toward universal health coverage under the Government’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID).
