MONROVIA – In a community where financial hardship has long prevented many children from accessing formal education, Faith School System is steadily changing lives through a simple but ambitious vision: ensuring that every child, regardless of economic background, has the opportunity to learn.
That vision came to life in a remarkable way as the institution celebrated its inaugural graduation ceremony, with 31 Kindergarten pupils proudly completing the first stage of their educational journey. For many of the children, the event represented more than receiving certificates; it symbolized a new beginning made possible through an educational program designed to remove financial barriers that have kept thousands of Liberian children out of school.
The graduation attracted parents, educators, community leaders, and well-wishers, all of whom gathered to celebrate what many described as a significant milestone for both the institution and the surrounding community.
The ceremony featured colorful performances, poetry recitations, songs, cultural displays, and classroom presentations that reflected the confidence and growth of the young learners during their first academic year. The students’ performances earned loud applause from parents and guests, many of whom described the occasion as a celebration of hope and opportunity.
Delivering the keynote address, Alexander N. Mulbah praised the school’s leadership for creating an environment where children from disadvantaged backgrounds can pursue their education without the burden of tuition fees.
He encouraged the graduates to remain committed to their studies, reminding them that the ceremony represented the beginning of a much longer educational journey.
According to him, determination, discipline, and hard work remain the foundation for future success, regardless of one’s background or current circumstances.
He urged the children to believe in their abilities and to pursue careers that would enable them to contribute meaningfully to Liberia’s development, emphasizing that today’s pupils could become tomorrow’s doctors, teachers, engineers, journalists, nurses, scientists, entrepreneurs, and national leaders.
Established in 2025, Faith School System has quickly emerged as one of the few community-based institutions dedicated to reducing the number of out-of-school children by providing tuition-free primary education.
Within only one academic year, the institution has enrolled more than 450 students, many of whom had either dropped out of school because of financial difficulties or had never attended school before. The rapid enrollment reflects both the growing demand for accessible education and the economic challenges confronting many Liberian families.
The school operates under the Field Empowerment Foundation of Liberia and embraces the motto, “Faith and Service,” a philosophy that combines academic instruction with character development, discipline, and community service.
Founder and Chief Executive Officer William Karwolor Howard expressed appreciation to parents for believing in the institution during its formative year. He also recognized the dedication of teachers, administrators, and support staff whose commitment helped transform the school’s vision into reality.
Howard reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to maintaining high academic standards while ensuring that children from all backgrounds continue to receive quality education regardless of their families’ financial circumstances.
He noted that investing in children’s education remains one of the most effective ways to strengthen Liberia’s future, stressing that every child deserves an equal opportunity to succeed.
Parents attending the ceremony echoed similar sentiments. Speaking on behalf of families, Martha Andrews and Prince Kollie described the tuition-free initiative as a lifeline for many households struggling to meet the rising cost of education. They said the program has restored hope to parents who once feared their children would remain outside the classroom because of poverty.
They further observed that the institution’s growing enrollment demonstrates how strongly communities respond when affordable and quality educational opportunities become available.
The school’s mission also complements the global objective of Sustainable Development Goal Four, which promotes inclusive and equitable quality education for all while encouraging lifelong learning opportunities.
As the graduates prepare to enter primary school, Faith School System continues to position itself as more than an academic institution. It is becoming a community-centered initiative dedicated to restoring opportunity, reducing educational inequality, and empowering Liberia’s next generation.
For the 31 young graduates who proudly crossed the graduation stage, the ceremony marked their first academic achievement. For their families and the wider community, however, it represented something even greater—the promise that access to education can transform lives and create brighter futures, one child at a time.
