The visit, which formed part of his district-wide tour of West African countries, brought together members of the Lions Club of Liberia in Monrovia.
Governor Boua engaged with club leaders, reviewed ongoing initiatives, and held discussions on ways to strengthen service delivery and expand the impact of the Liberian chapter.
Speaking in an interview with the media following a day-long with club members, Governor Boua applauded the Liberian chapter for carrying out programs in healthcare, education, youth empowerment, and humanitarian outreach, despite limited resources.
He pointed out that the club’s activities align with the global priorities of Lions Clubs International, particularly in addressing the needs of vulnerable communities.
“Their service is visible. I went to the JFK Hospital and saw the clinic that is supported by the club there. I want to thank them for their service, and their commitment is inspiring. Liberia’s Lions have shown that when people unite for the common good, lives are transformed,” he remarked.
The Governor encouraged the local chapter to continue investing in sustainable projects, including eye health programs and other initiatives for underprivileged children, and support to disaster-affected communities.
Lion Boua emphasized the need for sustainability in project design and execution, cautioning that humanitarian efforts should not only provide immediate relief but also long-term impact.
“We must think beyond today’s needs. Our work must ensure that generations to come benefit from the structures and programs we put in place now,” he said.
Liberian Lions Respond
He expressed gratitude to the leadership of Club here, a recognition of their efforts and a reminder of their broader responsibility within the global Lions family.
According to Lion Boua, the visit reinforces the mandate of the club to serve with integrity and compassion, adding that as per his assessment, the club remains committed to expanding its eye care campaigns, supporting schools, and strengthening outreach programs across Liberia.
Governor Boua’s visit to Liberia is part of his broader mission across District 403A2, which covers multiple countries in West Africa including Togo, Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast and Liberia. His tour focuses on strengthening collaboration among national chapters, ensuring that local clubs remain effective partners in addressing development challenges.
As the world’s largest service club organization with over 1.4 million members in more than 200 countries, Lions Clubs International has played a vital role in addressing community needs for over a century.
Liberia’s chapter, though relatively smaller, has been an active contributor to this legacy, providing services in both urban and rural communities.
With the Governor’s encouragement, the Liberian Lions are being motivated to redouble their efforts, particularly in expanding youth programs, healthcare support, and poverty reduction initiatives.
It is now incumbent upon them to explore new partnerships with civil society and government institutions to scale up their impact.
On a large scale, Governor Boua is expected to inspire Lions to do more – with determination to make sure that the Lions Club of Liberia continues to stand out as a beacon of hope for those in need.
