MONROVIA – The World Lebanese Cultural Union of Liberia (WLCU) in partnership with a Lebanese NGO, Oum El Nour International has launched a major program to help rehabilitate drug users and make them productive citizens.
Oum El Nour International, known as Mother of Light and fully sponsored by the WLCU has visited some 22 high schools and held consultations with dozens of drug users and addicts in Montserrado County.
WLCU President Ahmed Wazni said the joint initiative include specialized social workers and physiatrists who have in the past six months been holding consultations at the offices of Mother of Light in Congo Town.
Oum El Nour International which means Mother of Light, has establish a Liberian group, Oum El Nour Liberia, with programs to help individuals overcome drug addiction.
Its programs help guide, rehabilitate accompany and follow up drug addicts aimed at discouraging from substance abuse and make them productive citizens.
WLCU President Ahmed Wazni said the Lebanese Community views this initiative as a humanitarian project to help young people recover from drugs and understand the danger it has on their health and the nation.
