Why Uncle Sam Keeps Jumping Over Liberia?

The Editor,

AMERICA did a redo of the popular Liberian dance song, a favorite of President George Weah, Finance Minister Sam Tweah and other biggies in the CDC: “Jump Over It.” Uncle Sam jumps over its historic stepchild, Liberia in giving out millions$ to fight the killer Coronavirus at a crucial time. But WHY? Let me take a guess.

The money trail started since President Weah and the CDC assumed power in January 2018: LD$18 billion went missing and Weah invited the FBI, America and world’s top police agency. Then there was the US $25 million mop up money that went up in smoke. In the meantime, senior government officials were either building or buying up expensive mansions and expanding their real estate empires, cars, jet planes and fashion competitions.

Mind you, the CIA headquarters in all of Africa dubbed the US Embassy at the strategically placed Mamba Point, Monrovia, as its mission has been from the beginning of its assignment, is the gatekeeper for everything and anybody in the Liberian government and it monitors all internet/computer transactions and every telephone conversation in Liberia by anyone.

Folks, you remember one time when it was revealed that US Intelligence records every phone conversation of America’s top allies and therefore every world leader including the leaders of France, Britain, Germany were mad at America for listening in on their supposedly private conversations? Welcome to the world of ESPIONAGE. And you will think small Liberia is an exception? With these facts, let me add a few more guesses why America “Jump Over It/Liberia” with her latest money bag stuffed with $274 million to fight the Coronavirus.

The signs were all there; Washington has not been happy with stepchild Liberia since the civil war ended. Former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf squandered billions$ of dollars meant to rebuild the war ravaged nation. She made matters worse when she handpicked a naive footballer to politics, George Weah to cover her dirty deeds and she has since blindfolded Weah to this day. An unsophisticated Weah in turn promised to “protect Ellen” who has the keys to our money vaults from the Maritime Agency to the National Port Authority and is a shareholder in the so called “$20 billion of foreign investments” she claimed she attracted to our still impoverished nation when she was president.

Other “Jump Over It” reasons by Uncle Sam: Before recalling Ambassador Christine Elders to Washington abruptly last month, Washington is mad that she was babysitting George Weah and team after Weah, Sam Tweah and Nat McGill raided the bank accounts belonging to America and 8 of Western Embassies at the Central Bank of Liberia. They made away with about $5 million; it emboldened Team Weah. Team Weah blatantly refused to refund the stolen money despite a public repudiation by the 9 ambassadors. Weah’s PR Guru Len Eugene Nagbe would only justified their thievery by saying they were “digging one hole to cover another hole,” Case closed but not how the Americans see it. All a frustrated Ambassador Christine Elders could do was to block Weah from visiting the White House to meet “no nonsense, don’t give a damn Donald Trump.” Trump took a swipe at African countries by branding them “shithole countries.” God help Africa.

With Liberia’s broken healthcare system despite the pumping of billiins$ into Liberia to revive it after Ebola took nearly 5,000 lives—thanks to Ellen Johnson Sirleaf–bang! Here surfaces another killer, the Coronavirus and Liberia’s unreadiness to fight it. Smelling trouble ahead, Uncle Sam decided to fly its citizens from Monrovia last Wednesday.

Another “Jump Over It”/Liberia reason: The US funds most global organizations like the United Nations, The World Health Organization and the World Bank. They decided to test Weah, again. Two weeks ago, the World Bank and the WHO dashed some baits in front of Weah to the tune of a meager $1.6 million to help fight Corona. Bang! Another chopping for Team Weah as he only gave $750,000.00 of the Corona money to the poorly trained and equipped doctors and nurses who are in the frontline in the war against Corona. “Jump Over It.”

Late last year when American Millileum Challenge Corporation graded Liberia (F or Failed) for these reasons outlined above and much more, Dr./President Weah told the Americans to give him and Liberia “study materials” in advance for next year’s “exams.” The US State Department Annual Human Rights Report that came out this year stated the subjects or courses: Corruption, Human Rights Abuses and Nepotism, just to name a few. I pray Team Weah will pass the MCC Exams later this year, or dance “Jump Over It” again as with the Coronavirus money.

And if you have not figured out by now why Uncle Sam is “Jumping Over Liberia” then I beg to differ. Just a thought and not a sermon.
