MONROVIA — Fassell FC has officially unveiled Spanish tactician Vicente Parras as its new head coach, with the club’s leadership setting ambitious targets to conquer the Liberian First Division and make a resounding impact on the continental stage.

The high-profile unveiling that took place on Wednesday July 22 signals a bold new chapter for the ambitious Liberian club, which continues to position itself as a powerhouse in domestic football.
Speaking during the official ceremony, Parras expressed gratitude to the club’s executive leadership for entrusting him with the technical helm.
“I feel very happy, very proud,” Parras stated. “First, I am grateful to the CEO, the president, and the club for giving me this opportunity in such an ambitious project.”
Parras revealed that he spent weeks prior to his arrival studying Fassell FC’s history, recent performances, and long-term vision, noting that he was impressed by the project presented by the club’s hierarchy.
He emphasized that his immediate priority is instilling an uncompromising winning culture.
“This is a winning club, and the players who are here along with everyone involved in this project must always have a winning mentality,” he asserted. “At Fassell FC, there is only one objective: to win. That is the most important thing.”
The former Elche manager also praised the raw talent within the current squad, describing the young players as passionate and eager, though in need of tactical refinement.
“In the few days I have observed them, I have seen young players with great potential,” Parras noted. “They are strong and passionate footballers. We have to organize their game a bit, but above all, I see a strong desire to succeed. With that desire, I believe we can achieve great things.”
A Proven Track Record in Spain
Parras arrives in Liberia boasting a UEFA Pro License and over three decades of coaching experience, including 15 years in Spanish professional football.
His resume includes stints in Spain’s second tier (LaLiga 2), brief stewardship in LaLiga with Elche CF in 2017, and memorable runs in the prestigious Copa del Rey.
His developmental background spans leading Elche’s youth academy from 2010 to 2012, serving as an assistant for Elche B from 2012 to 2015, before taking charge of the senior squad.
Throughout his career, he has gone toe-to-toe with Spanish football giants including Real Madrid, Athletic Club, Levante, and the elite reserve sides of Barcelona and Villarreal.
Parras also highlighted his experience managing top-tier talent, having coached current Spanish international Fabián Ruiz and faced South Korean star Kang-in Lee.
However, the Spaniard insisted that his past credentials mean nothing if he cannot deliver results in West Africa.
“My history is there you can see it,” Parras said. “I have faced huge teams and worked with great players. But here, it is not about my past. It is about the history I am going to build right here in Africa and in Liberia.”
Addressing the heavy weight of expectations, Parras added: “If you don’t know how to handle pressure, you cannot be a coach. When you join a champion team, you know that pressure comes with the territory.”
Leadership Reaffirms Continental Ambitions
Fassell FC President Ernest Wolloh praised the appointment as a landmark moment for the club, reaffirming that the target remains domestic dominance and continental relevance in CAF competitions.
“Our vision remains unchanged, and our goal is simple to take this club to the next level,” the President remarked, confirming that Parras has been tasked with bringing home the league trophy.
Parras becomes the fourth European coach to take charge of Fassell FC, following previous spells by Italian manager Fabio Lopez, Bosnian-Australian tactician Amir Alagić, and Belgian coach Ivan Minnaert.
