Monrovia, Liberia – United Bank for Africa (UBA) Liberia, in partnership with the Monrovia City Corporation (MCC), has concluded a beach cleanup exercise at the God Bless You Community in Sinkor, First Street, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment to environmental sustainability and community development.
The initiative, carried out on Saturday, March 7, brought together UBA staff, MCC sanitation workers, and residents of the community who collectively removed plastic waste and other debris from the beach.
The cleanup aimed to promote environmental awareness, encourage responsible waste disposal, and help maintain a cleaner and healthier coastline in the Sinkor area.
Speaking at the event, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of UBA Liberia, Ayokunle Olajubu, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to supporting initiatives that protect the environment and enhance the well-being of communities.
“Environmental sustainability remains a key pillar of UBA’s CSR activities. We will continue to support efforts that foster a clean and safe environment,” Olajubu said. He also thanked the Monrovia City Corporation for providing guidance and the necessary tools to conduct the exercise, while expressing appreciation to community residents for their participation.
Delivering remarks on behalf of the Mayor, the Director for Waterfront Park and Recreation at the MCC, Eva Holder, commended UBA for the initiative and encouraged the bank to sustain its environmental support efforts.
The Chair of the God Bless You Community, Sumo, also praised UBA for organizing the cleanup, noting that the initiative not only improved the condition of the beach but also raised awareness among residents about the importance of protecting the environment.
Meanwhile, UBA staff used the opportunity to conduct a financial literacy awareness session with community members.
