MONROVIA —President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s Presidential Special Initiative (PSI) has launched a nationwide distribution of assorted items to students across Liberia.

The donations, which include shoes, clothing and sports jerseys for selected public schools, are part of President Boakai’s commitment to support students with their basic educational needs.
Mamassa D. Kamara, the Project Manager of the PSI, spoke at various distribution sites in Montserrado, Grand Bassa, Lofa, and Margibi, River Gee Counties, revealing that the items were donated by British national Reverend Trevor Cockings, also known as Bishop Trevor Stephen Cockings.
Reverend Cockings is the President and Founder of the UK-based humanitarian organization, Church Charity.
His charity has been supplying Liberia with shipping containers filled with various aid items—including clothes, food and medical supplies—for many years.
Madam Kamara explained that the PSI is being spearheaded by four government agencies: the Ministry of State, the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection.
She stated that the primary mission of the PSI is to assess local challenges and provide targeted assistance, with a strong focus on enhancing the education sector.
Additionally, Madam Kamara highlighted that the initiative aims to encourage school attendance, support parents’ efforts, and emphasize the significance of education in Liberia.
The PSI’s project manager further noted that PSI is also extending support to teachers, recognizing their vital role in shaping the future of Liberian children.
Receiving the items, recipients (students) expressed their gratitude to President Boakai for his generosity.
Students and school administrators expressed appreciation to the Liberian leader for “considering their needs” and offered prayers for God’s continued guidance and protection over him.
They praised the initiative, noting that the items will significantly improve learning conditions and boost student morale.
