Kakata—The Margibi County Police Detachment has intensified road safety awareness campaign across Kakata City and surrounding communities following a recent increase in traffic accidents in the county.

Within one week, Kakata City has recorded three separate motorcycle and vehicle collisions that claimed the lives of four people, raising concerns among local authorities and residents.
Speaking on the situation, Acting Margibi County Police Commander, Arthur K. Jarvey, described the growing number of accidents as alarming and said immediate intervention was necessary to protect public safety.
According to Commander Jarvey, the increase in road accidents highlights the urgent need for greater awareness and strict adherence to traffic regulations by all road users.
He explained that the awareness initiative is aimed at educating and reorienting drivers, motorcyclists, pedestrians, and commercial transport operators on traffic rules and their shared responsibility in maintaining safety on public roads.
He also urged residents to recommit themselves to road discipline by obeying traffic laws, exercising caution, and prioritizing safety at all times.
“The persistent loss of lives and destruction of property caused largely by reckless and negligent driving remains unacceptable,” he said.
He further called for collective action and cooperation from citizens to help create a safer road environment throughout Kakata City and Margibi County.
