LoneStar MTN Launches Total Mobile Money Service

Monrovia –  Buyers of Total petroleum products, who are subscribers of LoneStar Mobile Money promotion, have been provided the opportunity by their GSM service provider, to purchase without using direct cash. These customers will now be able to do their transactions through LoneStar Mobile Money program.

This program allows drivers and users of mobile money to purchase petroleum and other products from Total station and it’s minimart.

Ms Massa Dennis, head of the LoneStar MTN Mobile Money service, at the launch of the service at one of the Total service stations in Congo Town, said LoneStar MTN shares the vision for leading the way in driving the cashless economic agenda in Liberia and fostering the government agenda of financial inclusion as evidenced by her employer being the first mobile operator to launch Mobile Money and Total Liberia Launch of the first Gas Tomb Card in Liberia.

“This partnership will enable mobile money subscribers across Liberia to purchase their petroleum products and pay for goods at any Total gas station in Liberia. 

Presently, mobile money transactions have grown from a mere 3 million dollars to over 17 million dollars a month; 80 percent of this transaction value is from cash-out and money transfer so we know the potential is there.

Now, we have to roll up our sleeves, and get to work so that we don’t let these opportunities pass us by,” she disclosed.

Ms. Dennis also promised to continue to partner with leading companies to anchor the growth of digital finance in Liberia; adding: “Our partnership with Total Liberia is a good example of how we are doing this.”

Giving background, she stated that it has been a six-year journey to have the partnership reached where it is.

“I am delighted to be with you today on the occasion of the official launching ceremony of our partnership with Total Liberia, I would first like to thank Total Liberia for hosting this event,” Massa added.
