LNOC Annual Olympic Day Celebration Set for Weekend

MONROVIA – The Liberia National Olympic Committee (LNOC) will host its annual Olympic Day celebration this Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the PHP Unification Park in Monrovia.

The LNOC is the governing body responsible for developing, promoting, and protecting the Olympic Movement in Liberia.

According to LNOC President Cllr. Sylvester Rennie, the global celebration aims to promote fitness, well-being, and the core Olympic values of excellence, friendship, and respect.

Operating under the global theme “Let’s Move,” the program is scheduled to run from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

The LNOC boss revealed that a key goal of the 2026 celebration is to foster fitness and unity among both youth and elders who share a passion for sports.

“The 2026 Olympic Day celebration will bring together athletes, youth, sports enthusiasts, and families from across the country under the global theme of movement and healthy living,”

Cllr. Rennie said. “The morning will feature a variety of physical activities designed for all age groups and fitness levels.”

He added that participants can look forward to the traditional Olympic Day fun run, which will include a community walk and run to kick off the morning’s program.

The event will also showcases various Liberian national sports federations, interactive fitness sessions including aerobics and mass workouts led by local instructors and fun games designed to inspire the next generation of Liberian athletes.

Cllr. Rennie noted that Olympic Day is observed worldwide to commemorate the founding of the modern Olympic Games.

On behalf of the LNOC, he invited members of the public, the sporting community, and the media to join the celebration of peace, unity, and healthy lifestyles through the power of sports.

He concluded by urging the general public to turn out in mass at the PHP Unification Park to showcase their sporting skills and strengthen their physical fitness.
