CASABLANCA, Morocco – The Embassy of the Republic of Liberia in the Kingdom of Morocco has successfully carried out its first emergency intervention under its newly launched 24-hour support line, providing care packets to stranded Liberian travelers in Casablanca.

The response was triggered after three members of the Nimba County Administration Office- Mary N. Gonlepa, Laypiaseh Yenglee, and Joyce Paye Saah, were left stranded for nearly 36 hours at Mohammed V. International Airport due to a rescheduled flight. The delegation was returning from the Women’s Conference in Osaka, Japan.
Upon receiving information through coordination between Bong County Superintendent Hon. Loleyah Hawa Norris and Nimba County Superintendent Hon. Kou Miapeh Gono, the Embassy quickly mobilized. Care packets were delivered by Embassy staff members Mr. Heavenly Leo Allison and Ms. Dorothy Kumeh. The packets contained bottled water, snacks, and personal care items, intended to provide immediate relief and comfort.
Expressing gratitude, Mrs. Joyce Paye Saah stated: “It is not just about the packet; it is about the timeliness of the delivery. We are grateful for the farsightedness of the Embassy in Morocco and the compassion shown at a very difficult moment.”

Hon. Kou Miapeh Gono, upon learning of the intervention, commended the mission’s efforts:
“It felt good receiving the emergency packets, not simply because we needed them, but because it shows that the Liberia Mission in Morocco cares about its citizens.”
This first successful response demonstrates the Embassy’s renewed commitment to safeguarding the welfare of Liberians in Morocco and the diaspora. The 24-hour emergency support line is designed to ensure timely intervention for Liberians in distress.
The Embassy reaffirmed its dedication to prioritizing the well-being of citizens and encouraged Liberians in Morocco to make use of the emergency number: +2127 666 77783.
