Paris, France – Held under the theme: “Peace, Innovation and Sustainable Development in Africa”, the Africa Week events at UNESCO kick-off in grand style at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France between May 20-24, 2019.
A week long event that saw an innovation hub of selected African innovators, with their state-of-art innovations, a list of authors with our forty (40) different publications representing a generation of African writers, Art exhibition, handicraft boutiques. The selected theme: “Innovation at the service of sustainable development in Africa”, witnessed a great artistic performanceswere all highlights of the week’s agenda of the week as well.
UNESCO Director General, Audrey Azoulay along with ambassadors to UNESCO, African dignitaries, business and academic representatives, as well as students were all in attendance at the unique and special events befitting the occasion.
On the evening of the musical gala, several African musicians from the continent and other parts of the world performed different songs and show-cased their traditional and other African fabrics, beautifully representing their culture and heritage.
Notably among the musical artists was DJ Moh Greene, who represented Liberia on the night brought the house down with brilliant performances of songs along with his young dancers. Moh Green is a famous African musician who made the song for the African Cup of Nations 2019 to be held in Cairo, Egypt.
Liberia’s Ambassador to UNESCO Geraldine Bass-Golokeh praised the musicians and dancers for ably representing the Liberia flag at the UNESCO Gala event. She said Liberia and Africa remain grateful for their show of support and solidarity.
UNESCO Director General Ms. Audrey Azoulay and an array of Ministers, Diplomats, International guests witnessed the events and commended the artists and other participants for their brilliant and exceptional performances.
