Liberia: WONGOSOL Boosts Justice Advocacy in Liberia

Monrovia – The Women NGOs Secretariat of Liberia (WONGOSOL) has intensified its advocacy for justice and accountability by actively participating in the monthly coordination meeting of the National Transitional Justice Coordination Committee, a key platform driving Liberia’s pursuit of transitional justice and institutional reform.

The high-level meeting, hosted by the Office for the Establishment of the War and Economic Crimes Court for Liberia (OWECC-L), brought together committee members and major accountability institutions committed to promoting transparency, justice  and national healing.

The gathering focused on strengthening collective advocacy for the establishment of the War and Economic Crimes Court and the National Anti-Corruption Court, both seen as critical pillars in Liberia’s fight against impunity and corruption.

The coordination session served as an important forum for stakeholders to exchange updates, align strategies  and reinforce collaborative efforts aimed at advancing Liberia’s transitional justice agenda in a transparent, inclusive and coordinated manner.

During the meeting, WONGOSOL’s Executive Director, Esther S. D. Eyeah-David Yango, co-chaired the session and underscored the organization’s continued commitment to advancing transitional justice through a gender-responsive lens.

She stressed the importance of ensuring that women’s voices, experiences, and demands for justice remain central to Liberia’s accountability process.

Discussions also examined strategic pathways for strengthening the work of OWECC-L, with particular emphasis on deepening partnerships, enhancing coordination among actors, and sustaining momentum in the national campaign for justice and accountability.

WONGOSOL reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to amplifying the voices of women and supporting national efforts to secure justice, promote accountability, and build sustainable peace in Liberia.
