President-elect Joseph Boakai is set to take office on January 22, 2024. Minister Collins assured that construction efforts nationwide will persist until the new leadership assumes office.

The RIA Highway road is a five-year project, with payments for individual properties along the RIA corridor exceeding 90%, as disclosed by the Ministry of Public Works.

Addressing journalists during the construction site tour, Minister Collins commended President George Weah for the opportunity to serve as Minister of Public Works.

“This road project is still underway. We will continue our supervision, monitoring, and approval processes until the inauguration when a new Minister is appointed, and the new government assumes responsibility. I am proud to be part of this legacy project for President Weah,” Minister Collins stated.

The construction work on the road consists of two sections, with section one starting from the RIA and section two commencing from the ELWA junction.

“We have paved five kilometers on section two, and we are mobilizing equipment for the next phase, where we will cover an additional 10 kilometers of pavement. We aim to complete the initial five kilometers to facilitate unrestricted movement for our Liberian citizens,” she explained.

Minister Collins added, “Today, I am pleased that we have expanded this road from a two-lane to a four-lane plus, effectively creating almost a six-lane road with areas for parking.”

Acknowledging the historical significance of having a four-lane highway in Liberia, Minister Collins attributed the accomplishment to President Weah’s dedication, noting that he regularly inquired about the project’s progress.
