HARPER, Maryland County — Demonstrating commitment to advancing education and strengthening their alma mater, members of the Tubman College–Tubman University Alumni Association (TC-TUAA) have donated a huge quantity of instructional materials to William V.S. Tubman University.

The donation, valued at approximately US$4,000, was made on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at the University’s Gallery in Harper City. The items included 42 white marker boards and six smart projectors, aimed at improving classroom instruction and introducing up-to-date teaching aids across the University’s six colleges.
The ceremony brought together members of the Alumni Association, faculty, students, administrators, Representative P. Mike Jury, and other invited guests.
The TC-TUAA comprises graduates from the establishment of Tubman College in 2009, as well as those who have graduated since the institution was upgraded to full university status.
Making the presentation, TC-TUAA President Anthony C. Kwarbo said the donation forms part of the association’s commitment to giving back and maintaining high academic standards at the University.
“This is why every time we meet as Alumni of this University and former college, we discuss how we can improve this university. TU is all we have and we’re proud of it,” he said.
Mr. Kwarbo explained that although only marker boards were requested, the association decided to include smart projectors after recognizing the challenges faced by the institution. He added that the donation also followed a request made by the Student Government during the 2024/2025 academic year to improve classroom efficiency and hygiene.
He further acknowledged Representative P. Mike Jury for contributing US$4,000 toward the purchase and shipment of the materials from China, and called on the University administration to use the equipment for its intended purpose.
Receiving the items on behalf of the University, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Maria Fe Rebecca D. Gueta described the donation as timely and impactful.
“We have gotten several requests as administration for these boards. Receiving marker boards and projectors added is a dream come true,” she said, adding that the Alumni continue to demonstrate strong commitment to the growth of the institution.
During the ceremony, each of the University’s six colleges received one smart projector, with college deans accepting the equipment on behalf of their respective colleges.
Also speaking, Student Government Association President Reed June Harmon III expressed excitement over the donation, noting that students have long faced challenges with chalk dust and lack of modern teaching tools.
“We students are the direct impact receivers of these 42 pieces of white marker boards and six projectors… This donation will go a long way in our hearts,” he said.
The donation underscores the growing role of the Alumni Association in supporting academic excellence and strengthening teaching and learning at William V.S. Tubman University, while encouraging future graduates to remain connected and give back to their alma mater.
