
MONROVIA – Newly promoted Shooting Star Kickball Club delivered the biggest upset of the weekend in the 2025 NLA-LKF National League, stunning former champions Community Youth Empowerment (CYE) 2-1 in home runs to climb to the top of League One.

The thrilling victory at the Samuel Kanyan Doe Sports Complex on Sunday evening pushed Shooting Star level on points with Royal Sisters, with both clubs now tied at 19 points in the standings.
Shooting Star’s remarkable rise in their debut season has been one of the major talking points of the league, and Sunday’s result only solidified their status as legitimate title contenders.
In another headline clash on Sunday, Destiny Kickball Club from the 72nd community extended their winning streak with a strong 4-2 home run win against ASK Sisters (Angels of the Sky).
Destiny overcame an early deficit after ASK scored in the first inning but responded with four powerful runs in the second inning to seize control. ASK pulled one back in the third, but Destiny’s composure sealed the win, thrilling their home fans.
Also, on Sunday, Destiny of Gibi returned to form after recent struggles, recording a confident 5-1 victory over Mighty Supreme, who continue to search for form in a difficult campaign.
Saturday’s action saw Brazilian Girls end a four-match winless streak with a 2-1 comeback win over Buchanan-based Gisa. The Brazilian side had trailed 1-0 but rallied late to snatch a much-needed victory.
Aries KC, the most decorated club in Liberian kickball, displayed their championship pedigree by demolishing Barnersville Super Stars (BSS) 5-0. Aries took control early and didn’t require star pitcher Seta Fellie until the third inning, by which time they already held a 3-0 lead.
Meanwhile, United Angels of Kakata suffered another setback, going down 6-2 to Success Kickball Club, who lived up to their name with a dominant showing.
In the second division, the race for promotion remains tight. Neatoh sent a clear message on Saturday with a commanding 7-2 victory over Yasmor. On Sunday, Leela added pressure at the top with a 4-0 rout of Watanga, dealing a blow to their opponents’ title hopes.
Newcomers Zion Sisters were awarded a default win after Destiny-II failed to appear for their match in Dolo Town, securing three points and five home runs by forfeit.
