Monrovia – Liberia’s Information Minister Lenn Eugene Nagbe says President Weah will return to work Monday following a snake scare last week.
Last week, officers of the Executive Protective Services (EPS) failed to kill two snakes found roaming the ceiling of the ground floor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs which has been the temporary seat of the presidency since a 2007 fire blazed the fourth floor of the Executive Mansion.
The two snakes managed to escape through the same passage it attempted coming out from.
Minister Nagbe, speaking to the Voice of America Monday said the incident is not unusual. “Liberia is a topical country and there are so many ministry buildings – and yes, there were two snakes in the building and as a result of that there was a decision made to refumigate the entire building and naturally, Mr. President would not be in the building – nor would any of the staff be in the building while the fumigation is going on – and that was done and the President would return to work on Monday.”
Last week, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the suspension of all working activities at the Ministry including the Bureau of Passport and Visas from Thursday, April 18, 2019 to Tuesday, April 23, 2019 due to a fumigation exercise.
According to a Foreign Ministry release, normal working activities at the Ministry will resume on Wednesday, April 24, 2019.
