Monrovia — The Liberia National Police (LNP) has released Samuel Jackson to his legal team following the expiration of the 48-hour detention period required under Liberian law.
Jackson had been held for questioning in connection with an ongoing investigation but was released without being formally charged. Authorities say the case remains under investigation and that further steps will be determined by the outcome of ongoing inquiries.
The matter originates from the death of Toni Jackson, the wife of Samuel Jackson, who died on March 12 under circumstances that drew the attention of law enforcement.
Her death prompted an investigation aimed at establishing the cause and determining whether any individuals may have been involved.
Following initial findings, Samuel Jackson was identified as a suspect, and taken into custody for questioning. An autopsy was conducted on his wife despite his objection. However, police did not file charges within the constitutionally required timeframe, leading to his release.
The LNP has not yet disclosed yhe results of the autopsy and the cause of Toni Jackson’s death or confirmed whether foul play is suspected. Officials say the investigation is ongoing and have assured the public of a full and impartial process.
