Monrovia — The Monrovia City Corporation has presented its prestigious Key to the City Award to businessman Wilson T. Nyanneh, Chief Executive Officer of Nyanneh Company and Ocean Drive Beach Resort, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the growth and development of the capital.
Held on Sunday, February 15, in the ballroom at the Monrovia City Hall, the event attracted a slew of dignitaries that included officials of government, members of the diplomatic corps, and business leaders.
The Mayor of Monrovia, John Charufk Siaffa, said the honorees were awarded for their immense contribution to the growth of the city.
Receiving his award, Wilson, who is also the core distributor of Tsingtao Beer in West Africa, said he sees it as a big achievement and plans to do more for the city. “There is a lot to be done in the city.
He said he will use proceeds from his profit to continue to help to make the city green. Narrating, he said, the Ocean Drive Resort was meant to beautify the city and further save the land from sea erosion.

Born in Yekepa, Wilson T. Nyanneh was raised in Monrovia, where he developed an entrepreneurial spirit from a young age as a petit trader. The ninth of eleven siblings, Nyanneh later pursued a promising soccer career that took him across several countries, including Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Malaysia, China, and the United States.
His football ambitions, however, were cut short by injury — a turning point that redirected him back to entrepreneurship. Together with siblings and associates, he launched a mini gas station business under the name “Super Gentlemen,” laying the foundation for future ventures.
Nyanneh’s first major investment in Liberia came in 2012 when he imported the first shipment of products from Tsingtao Brewery into Monrovia. Rapid sales growth led to his selection as Core Distributor for West Africa at the Tsingtao Global Conference in 2014 in China, making him the company’s sole distributor in the subregion. Under his leadership, Tsingtao operations expanded to four West African countries, employing more than 355 people, with Liberia accounting for roughly half of the workforce.
His success earned him recognition from Tsingtao Brewery for outstanding sales performance and solidified his reputation as one of Monrovia’s emerging business leaders.
Beyond the beverage industry, Nyanneh diversified into real estate, with investments in Dubai, the United States, Ghana, and Liberia. He later expanded into hospitality with the establishment of the Ocean Drive Beach Resort, a major leisure and accommodation complex situated along the Atlantic coastline on Tubman Boulevard, opposite Invincible Park. The resort has become a notable destination in Monrovia’s entertainment and tourism landscape.
City officials praised Nyanneh not only for his entrepreneurial achievements but also for his social impact. As part of his corporate social responsibility efforts, he serves as an ambassador to the River of Grace – Love to Africa orphanage in Grand Bassa County, supporting more than 100 children, while also providing assistance to sports teams, communities, churches, and county sports initiatives across Liberia.
Described by many as a family-oriented leader and community supporter, Nyanneh currently oversees the strategic direction and operations of his multiple businesses, employing a significant number of Liberians and contributing to local economic growth.
Presenting the award, city officials said the recognition reflects his dedication to innovation, job creation, and social responsibility — qualities they said continue to bring pride to the City of Monrovia.
The Key to the City Award is one of the highest honors bestowed by the Monrovia City Corporation, reserved for individuals whose achievements and service positively impact the capital and its residents.
