MONROVIA — Midfielder Marvin Blapoh has officially parted ways with LPRC Oilers by mutual consent, bringing a premature end to his brief and injury-plagued stint with the Oilers Boys.

Blapoh joined the “Oil Boys” during the second phase of the 2025/2026 league season with high expectations of strengthening the club’s midfield. However, his tenure was severely hampered by a lingering injury that sidelined him for over two months, drastically limiting his opportunities to impact the pitch.
Announcing his departure via his official Facebook page, the midfielder reflected on what he described as a challenging but valuable period in his career.
“It has been a crazy moment, up and down,” Blapoh wrote. “Over two months without actively playing due to injury, but God is the greatest. I personally wrote and asked them for this path, and today I say goodbye to this family. By mutual agreement, both sides part ways with a high level of professionalism.”
He added: “This decision wasn’t made by me alone; my mom was fully involved for the best of my career. Now, all focus is on my recovery process, and I look forward to when I’m back.”
The experience midfielder expressed his gratitude to the club’s leadership while emphasizing that his immediate priority is a full recovery before considering the next chapter of his football journey.
Sources close to the player indicate that the decision was reached amicably, with both Blapoh and LPRC Oilers management agreeing that a separation was in the best interest of his long-term health.
The move allows the midfielder to concentrate entirely on intensive physical rehabilitation.
Despite his minimal playing time, Blapoh reportedly remained deeply committed to the team during his rehabilitation, leaving on excellent terms with the management, technical staff, teammates, and supporters.
His sudden departure comes just months after a blockbuster transfer from Borough FC in January 2026. At the time, Blapoh had brought an end to an era on Bushrod Island, concluding more than a decade of loyalty, leadership, and service.
Blapoh initially joined the Bushrod Island-based club during its formative years as Monrovia Club Breweries.
He remained a constant pillar through its transition to Global Pharma FC, and its subsequent rebranding as Borough FC.
Evolving from a youth prospect into the club’s longest-serving captain, Blapoh anchored the team through its rise, capturing two Second Division league titles and two FA Cup triumphs.
In January, Borough FC confirmed his departure alongside midfielder Oliver Sekey, with both players moving to LPRC Oilers for undisclosed fees.
“The club extends its sincere gratitude to Marvin Blapoh for his outstanding service, leadership, and commitment throughout his time at Borough FC,” the club’s management stated at the time.
“As captain, Blapoh led by example both on and off the field, embodying the values and fighting spirit of the club.”
Upon sealing his move to the Oil Boys earlier this year, an ambitious Blapoh had taken to social media, writing: “Not with many words, but a start of a new chapter. I’m here to write history. Trust me, I’m even hungrier than before.”
While lingering injuries prevented those ambitions from materializing during the 2025/2026 campaign, members of the Liberian football community remain hopeful that the resilient midfielder will regain full fitness and return to the domestic top flight.
Meanwhile, LPRC Oilers are moving forward with preparations for the upcoming 2026/2027 season. The club’s technical staff has already begun scouting new talent to overhaul the squad as they look to defend their domestic crown and stage a competitive run in CAF continental competitions.
