Monrovia – Controversial football administrator Cassell Anthony Kuoh has officially thrown his hat into the ring for the Liberia Football Association (LFA) presidency, submitting his candidacy on Tuesday, April 14.

However, his journey to the “Football House” remains shrouded in uncertainty as he awaits a high-stakes eligibility ruling from the LFA Elections Committee.
Kuoh’s filing comes on the heels of a legal battle that briefly paralyzed the electoral process.
The crux of the contention lies in the LFA’s “criminality” and eligibility clause provisions Kuoh previously challenged in court.
While the judge recently lifted the injunction that halted the polls, the Vetting Committee now holds the power to determine if Kuoh’s application survives the revised scrutiny of the Elections Code.
A Campaign Built on ‘Reform’
In a formal statement released Tuesday, Kuoh positioned himself as a reformer, framing his bid as a necessary intervention for a struggling sport.
“My decision to contest is driven by a firm belief that our football can and must do better,” Kuoh stated. “Together, we can build a system grounded in transparency, fairness, and opportunity for all. This marks the beginning of a journey focused on reviving, reforming, and repositioning Liberian football for international competitiveness.”
The Road Ahead
With the legal hurdles temporarily cleared, the LFA has hit the “resume” button on its electoral timeline. The process now enters its most critical phase.
The Elections Committee will evaluate all candidates against the revised Code, with particular focus on the “criminality” thresholds.
Also the LFA is expected to publish a preliminary list of qualified candidates who survived the vetting process.
Meanwhile disisqualified applicants will have a narrow window to challenge the committee’s findings before the final ballot is set.
As the Vetting Committee retreats to deliberate, the 2026 LFA election is shaping up to be the most scrutinized in the history of Liberian football governance.
Stakeholders are now waiting to see if the “football House” doors will open for Kuoh or if the very clauses he fought in court will ultimately bar his path.
Under the LFA’s revised statutes, candidates must pass a rigorous background check. The decision on Kuoh is expected to set a major precedent for integrity standards in Liberian sports administration.
