MONROVIA– The former President of the Press Union of Liberia (PUL), Charles B. Coffey Jr., has welcomed the Government of Liberia’s recent initiatives aimed at addressing critical infrastructure challenges across the country, describing them as positive steps toward national development and inclusive governance.
Mr. Coffey commended the government for commencing the construction of a Judicial Complex in Voinjama, Lofa County and a Justice Complex in Monrovia, noting that such developments will strengthen access to justice and improve the nation’s legal infrastructure.
He also praised the government’s decision to import earth-moving equipment, commonly referred to as yellow machines, intended to improve road connectivity nationwide.
According to Mr. Coffey, fulfilling President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s promise to enhance road networks and open farm-to-market roads will significantly improve economic opportunities, ease transportation challenges and support rural communities.
While acknowledging Liberia’s longstanding infrastructure deficit, Mr. Coffey lauded the government’s commitment to inclusive development and urged Liberians to support national development efforts rather than engage in activities that undermine progress.
He further called on citizens across the country to refrain from negative vices that hinder development and instead collaborate with government programs and initiatives designed to improve living conditions for all Liberians.
Mr. Coffey also emphasized the importance of peace and stability, urging Liberians to cultivate a culture of peace and reject violence in all forms for the good and future of the country.
“National development requires unity, cooperation, and collective responsibility. Liberia can only progress when citizens support positive national initiatives and work together in peace,” Mr. Coffey stated.
He concluded by encouraging all stakeholders to place national interest above personal or political differences to ensure sustainable growth and development for future generations.
