The happy residents who are upbeat about the ongoing project can’t wait to begin using the bridge fully especially ahead of the rainy season.
According to them, the Project is not only strategic but also a meaningful one that upon full completion will end their old age nightmare of smooth and safe movements mainly during the rainy season.
“Our children will now walk on this new bridge freely and safely, our market people will also commute from one end to the other faster especially due to the central location of this bridge”, some residents in a joyous mood told our reporter.
With smiles beaming all over their faces and as a sign of great relief and appreciation for the level of work done on the project thus far, the joyous residents described the project sponsor, Sekou Kalasco Damaro as a true and original rescue father.
” This is what we call real rescue, this Project is very Important to us and we are so glad to have such a son who knows and has cleverly identified the real need of us,we are overwhelmed “, an elder of the community narrated.
With nearly 20% of the work left before fully completed , some students and residents due to the bridge’s central location have already started partly using it.
According to Mr. Damaro, he is committed to the project in order to help his people as the full completion will be done soon to pave the way for its official dedication ahead of the heavy rain.
“Our focus among other things is to save lives and to also in our little way contribute meaningfully to changing the lives and narratives of our people and County in general”, the former Presidential Aide to former President George Weah explained.
He stressed that he feels so passionate to give back to his people and he also feels their pains and challenges they go through as such he remains committed to making the necessary and strategic interventions.
Sekou speaking to our reporter put the cost of the bridge project at about two million Liberian dollars upon full completion.
Branded previously as the death trap bridge, the appreciative residents now see the project as a relief to them as such have already started branding it as the Sekou Kalasco Rescue Bridge.
Upon full completion, the hundreds of residents will now cross their new bridge freely, void of fear , injury and other related risks previously associated with their former poor and dilapidated bridge.
