The demonstration, which began early Monday morning, has disrupted travel to Monrovia, leaving students, marketers, and workers unable to reach their destinations.
“I came to get a car to go to Monrovia for my exams, but I can’t find one. This is affecting us this morning,” said Joe Wilson, a student caught in the disruption.
Wilson and other commuters are calling on the Government of Liberia to investigate the claims and ensure that fair and standardized traffic ticketing is enforced.
Marketers attempting to transport goods to Monrovia echoed similar concerns, lamenting the impact on their livelihoods. The protest has brought commercial transportation to a halt, raising concerns about potential economic ripple effects if the issue is not resolved promptly.
No official statement has been issued yet by the Liberia National Police or the tansport unions regarding the drivers’ grievances.
