MONROVIA – Borough FC Head Coach Reo Nyanti says his side entered the pitch with a clear mission to “make a statement,” and they did so in emphatic fashion on Sunday, dismantling league leaders LISCR FC 5-1 in a stunning Liberia football Association First Division showdown.

The result sent shockwaves across the Liberia Football Association (LFA) First Division, as Borough produced one of the most clinical performances witnessed at the D. Tweh Sports pitch this season.
“We came into this match with one objective to make a statement and I think the boys delivered,” Nyanti declared following the final whistle.
“From the first whistle, our intensity, discipline, and hunger were clear. We respected LISCR because they are a strong side, but we refused to be intimidated.”
Borough wasted no time asserting dominance over the “Shipping Boys.” In just the 4th minute, Marcus Kumeh opened the scoring to give Borough a dream start, igniting the home supporters.
The momentum stayed with the hosts as Emmerson Lysor doubled the advantage six minutes later, catching the league leaders off guard. The two-goal cushion held until the interval, with Borough firmly in control of the midfield battle and LISCR struggling to find their rhythm.
Second-Half Ruthlessness
LISCR expected a comeback in the second half, but Borough quickly extinguished those hopes.
Five minutes after the restart, Lysor grabbed his second goal of the afternoon to extend the lead to 3-0, effectively ending the contest as a spectacle.
The rout continued in the 57th minute when Aloysious Klon made it 4-0, capitalizing on a defensive lapse during Borough’s relentless attacking pressure.
Marcus Kumeh then sealed the historic victory in the 75th minute, completing his brace and capping a dominant display that left the league leaders reeling.
“The players executed the game plan perfectly, stayed compact defensively, and were ruthless in front of goal,” Nyanti added. “This result reflects the hard work these young men have been putting in during training. We’ll celebrate tonight, but our focus remains on consistency.”
Table Implications: Title Race Wide Open
The victory provides a massive lifeline for Borough FC, lifting them to 24 points and moving them into 11th position on the 15-teams table after 18 matches played.
Despite the heavy defeat, LISCR FC remains at the summit with 38 points from 19 matches.
However, back-to-back setbacks have seen their lead evaporate.
Bea Mountain FC has surged into second place following a narrow 1-0 victory over defending champions FC Fassell, closing the gap to just two points behind the leaders.
