MONROVIA – The World Lebanese Cultural Union of Liberia (WLCU) has donated two Cardio Lifesaving equipment valued at over U$29,000.00, to the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare for use at the Roberts International Airport terminal.
The Cardio Life is used as an emergency first aid to resuscitate heart in the event of a failure.
Presenting the two medical equipment to the Health Minister Dr. Wilhelmina Jallah, the acting WLCU President Mr. Najib Tannous said donation was made upon request of the Health Minister.
Mr. Tannous the equipment which will help save life, were imported through the Charif Pharmacy and will provide technical training to Health Ministry staff on how to use and maintain them.
The WLCU acting President said it was gratifying for the Lebanese community in keeping with its social responsibility to partner with the Liberian Government in making health services available to all.
He referenced the Lebanese community sponsoring the establishment of Olum El Nour, a drugs prevention and rehabilitation center in Congo Town which is catering to drugs addicts in Liberia.
The WLCU acting President reaffirmed the Lebanese community continuous support to the pro-poor agenda of the CDC government in improving the country’s health care delivery service.
Receiving the equipment, Health Minister Dr. Jallah expressed gratitude to the Lebanese community for the kind gesture, which she said was timely with the dedication of the new terminal at the Roberts International airport.
Dr. Jallah lauded the Lebanese community in Liberia for their continuous support to the government in its strived to help improve the country’s health care delivery service and hope others will emulate the fine gestures.
Earlier, the Lebanese Ambassador to Liberia, Mr. Henri Kastoun said he was gratified by the cordial relationship between the Lebanese community and the people and government of Liberia.
Ambassador Kastoun said the donation of the medical equipment and the establishment of the drugs prevention and rehabilitation center signified the cordial ties between the peoples of Lebanon and Liberia.
