Monrovia – In an effort to identify with the disabled community in the country, the International Learning Institute (ILI), of Liberia with support of some guests who accompanied the founder, has donated several assorted food and non-food items to the Christian Association of the blind (CAB) situated on the Robert field Highway, outside Monrovia.
Items donated include rice, cartoon of chicken, vegetable oil, biscuits, candy, tissues, soap and two safety canes among others.
Presenting the items on Friday, December 22, 2017, in the R2 community, ILI CEO Mrs. Mildred Dean explained that the initiative to identify with the blind community was, aimed at putting smile on their faces during the Christmas season.
“This is our own way of expressing our willingness in working with you. Our doors are always open to render any personal assistance especially to the, disabled and the visually impaired” she noted.
In response, a proxy, Mr. James Johnson who received the items on behalf of the president Mr. Beyan Kota, expressed gratitude to the ILI family and promised that said items will be used for its intended purposes.
Beyan G. Kota is the National President of CAB which support comes from voluntary contributions from humanitarian organizations and individuals.
He then added that identifying with the Association, especially during the festive season, was meaningful, describing the occasion as surprise visit which according to him will bring joy and put smile on the faces of the kids during the Christmas celebration.
The ILI is an institution located in Paynesville and founded by a Liberia Mrs. Mildred Dean, and focuses on improving learning outcomes for Liberian children in order to give the next generation a head start in education.
