Margibi County – The Security Experts Guard Agency of Liberia (SEGAL) has begun 11 days training for 25 security personnel in aviation security management.

The training which began Tuesday, June 18, 2019, is currently taking place at the Farmington Hotel in Harbel, Margibi County.
The exercise is aimed at strengthening the capacity of SEGAL security personnel in aviation security management and safety, especially for those assigned at the Robert International Airport and other airports in the country.
Speaking at the opening of the training, the CEO and General Manager of SEGAL, Momo T. Cyrus said the exercise is part of SEGAL strategies in revamping the private security sectors of the country.
“We were instrumental in making sure that the training works because of our innovation. SEGAL as an institution that believes in innovation and diversifying its service,” Cyrus said.
He added that the purpose of the exercise is to train security personnel of SEGAL in aviation security, stating that aviation security is a new sector his institution (SEGAL) is trying to incorporate in its security apparatus.
“Aviation security is another new sector we are trying to dive in, in Liberia. We see the need for aviation security, we see the potential customers or clients coming up, which is the new airport.”
He continues: “We think that as a Liberian private security company, we will be given an opportunity to participate and have some level of service there, so, we have organized this training to prepared for eventuality in case the opportunity comes.”
Cyrus added that the workshop is also intended to upgrade the skills of officers of SEGAL in the area of airport security.
“The training is gear towards sharpening the scales of our officers and is intended to promote the president Pro-Poor Agenda because we are developing men and women and giving them the opportunity for job and at least a career to pursue,” he noted.
Also speaking, the Aviation Security Manager of the Liberia Aviation Authority, Nah Padmore said the exercise is a positive step forward in promoting the Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development.
“I just like to appreciate SEGAL for the effort they are doing to meet with the compliance of international standard and recommended practices. We see this as a very positive step forward,” Padmore said.
