FISH TOWN, River Gee County — The River Gee County Joint Security has arrested 12 motorcyclists and seized nine motorcycles following a violent confrontation reportedly linked to a leadership crisis within the River Gee Motorcyclists Union.

The confrontation erupted Tuesday night , August 11, 2026 in Gbeapo-Kanweaken between motorcyclists from Fish Town and Gbeapo-Kanweaken, according to River Gee County Police Commander Theophilus Toe Togba.
Several motorcyclists were reportedly injured as the confrontation escalated, with the riders allegedly throwing stones at one another and blocking roads.
Commander Togba said the Joint Security intervened and succeeded in dispersing the groups and removing the roadblocks. However, tensions resurfaced Wednesday morning, August 12, 2026 when a large group of motorcyclists gathered again in the area.
“It became very chaotic where cyclists were throwing stones at one another and blocked roads,” Commander Togba said.
He added: “We amicably dissolved the groups and removed the roadblocks. This morning again, we saw a large group of them who gathered and became very disgruntled, so we had to move in to ensure that calm is restored in the area.”
The police commander confirmed that 12 people had been arrested, while nine motorcycles were taken into custody.
He attributed the growing tension to what he described as a leadership crisis within the motorcyclists’ union, although the specific issues at the center of the dispute have not yet been established.
The Joint Security has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the disagreement and identify individuals responsible for the violence.
Security personnel are also continuing efforts to locate additional suspects as authorities work to prevent further escalation.
River Gee County authorities, led by Superintendent Mike T. Swengbe, have meanwhile appealed to the motorcyclists and residents to remain calm and allow the investigation to proceed.
