The Liberian National Police usually launch operation during festive seasons but it resorts to peddlers losing their market and items due to ensuing tussle.

As the country gradually draws to festive season, the authority of the Liberia National Police again has announced the launching of a tactical operation Code name “Operation Guardian Angel,” ahead of the festive season to tackle the occurrence of criminal activities during the celebrations of the holidays, and called on the general public to collaborate with the Police.

The operation commenced from December 1, and expected to end January 15, 2017 and will witness the deployment of officers at strategic intersections to provide assistance for the physically challenged, pregnant woman, and elderly people crossing major roads, and also combat criminals who may want to inflict harm on peaceful individuals.

The operation will also address the issue of traffic congestion, conduct surveillance, detection and deterrence patrols including possible arrest in commercial centers.

Police Inspector General Gregory Coleman said the operation is intended to provide an enabling and safety environment for every resident, and people entering the country through an effective, efficient, and professional Police service delivery.

He further mentioned that modern policing is centered on service delivery, and admonished officers of the Liberia National Police to adapt to the new trend of policing if the LNP is to win the confidence of the Liberian people, and other nationals in the country.

Col. Coleman said the LNP under his watch will be people centered, with the provision of services  to the people of Liberia, especially as the country moves towards the 2017 general and presidential elections.

IGP Coleman warned officers involved with the special operation to adhere to the principles of democratic policing, discipline, excellence and the avoidance of corrupt practices; with a professional orientation that reinforces commitment to democratic values, respect for human rights and a non- partisan approach to duty.

The Inspector General said drastic action awaits any officer that will violate the Police code of ethics in the execution of their duty the operation.
