Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, October 21, 2026 – Hon. Amara Kamara, Commissioner of the Liberia Electricity Regulatory Commission (LERC), paid a courtesy visit to TRANSCO CLSG headquarters in Abidjan on Wednesday, underscoring the two institutions’ commitment to regional power cooperation.
Commissioner Kamara was received by General Manager Etienne Bailly; Director of Finance and Administration Josephus Jigba Yilla; Acting Technical Director Erick Achi; Procurement Specialist and Contract Manager Mohamed Keita; and Communications Officer Sidiki Trawally.
On behalf of LERC Chairman Claude Katta and the Board of Commissioners, Commissioner Kamara congratulated Mr. Bailly on his appointment as General Manager of TRANSCO CLSG. He pledged LERC’s full support for the organization’s work. “We admire the work being done here at TRANSCO CLSG,” Commissioner Kamara said.
The discussions centered on the performance and long-term sustainability of the regional power system. Both sides emphasized the importance of regular institutional dialogue as West Africa works toward a more reliable and interconnected electricity market.
TRANSCO CLSG operates the Côte d’Ivoire–Liberia–Sierra Leone–Guinea interconnection, which facilitates cross-border electricity exchange. As Liberia’s electricity regulator, LERC plays a key role in promoting reliable supply, effective oversight and sustainable regional power trade.
During the meeting in the Main Conference Room, LERC and TRANSCO CLSG reaffirmed their commitment to expanding electricity trade and strengthening the reliability of the CLSG transmission network.
Participants reviewed system performance, commercial sustainability and deeper market integration. They noted that closer coordination among regulators, utilities and transmission operators is essential to address operational requirements and support future growth.
Both institutions identified reinforcement of the CLSG corridor as a priority as new generation projects emerge across the region. Commissioner Kamara encouraged greater knowledge sharing, targeted training, staff secondments and cooperation agreements with neighboring utilities to improve maintenance response and strengthen national capacity.
The parties also called for sustained capacity building, stronger donor coordination and accelerated studies and investment to reinforce the corridor. The visit reaffirmed their shared commitment to practical cooperation and dependable regional electricity trade.
Commissioner Kamara further emphasized the need for continued coordination between the two institutions to advance integration under the ECOWAS Regional Electricity Market.
