Champion of Peace-Nelson Mandela, former President of South Africa: “Along with peace, partnership is one of our most powerful weapons in this renewal.”

Liberia’s future can not depend solely on government programs, international aid, or foreign assistance.
Lasting progress also requires Liberians, both at home and in the diaspora, to take responsibility for their communities’ well-being.
One meaningful way to show that commitment is to support credible, Liberian-led nonprofit organizations that respond to the needs of vulnerable families.
FALSWAR International Charity, Inc. is one such organization.
Founded in 2008 by Dr. Anthony Fallah Swaray, FALSWAR is a Minnesota-based, IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization.
With the support of his wife, Mrs. Precious Yah Swaray, organizational leaders, volunteers, donors, and community partners, Dr. Swaray has helped build an organization dedicated to improving lives in Liberia.
The organization’s mission extends well beyond one form of assistance.
FALSWAR mobilizes donations of medical supplies and equipment, supports healthcare facilities, and provides humanitarian resources such as educational materials, scholarships, food, clothing, shoes, and hygiene items.
Its work recognizes that healthcare, education, and basic human dignity are closely connected.
A clinic without essential equipment and a child without school supplies face different challenges, but both deserve attention.
In October 2026, FALSWAR reached a major milestone: it shipped two 40-foot containers of donated medical equipment, medical supplies, and other humanitarian items from Minnesota to Liberia.
This accomplishment reflects extensive coordination, strenuous volunteer labor, transportation arrangements, fundraising, and financial sacrifice.
Shipping supplies across the Atlantic requires far more than collecting donations.
It involves storage, loading, freight costs, documentation, and planning for customs clearance and responsible distribution once the containers arrive.
The two containers represent a collective achievement, not just one person’s effort.
Volunteers lifted and organized supplies, donors contributed essential materials, and supporters helped meet logistical needs.
Their commitment shows what’s possible when compassion meets action.
Although the shipments’ full impact can only be measured after the supplies arrive and reach intended beneficiaries, successfully dispatching them is an accomplishment worthy of recognition.
FALSWAR has also found creative ways to support its humanitarian work.
Its volunteers have participated in fundraising activities at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis during American football events.
The money raised through these opportunities helps the organization cover mission costs.
This example offers an important lesson: people don’t have to be wealthy to help Liberia.
Donating a few hours, connecting an organization with a potential partner, or contributing a modest amount can make a difference when combined.
The Liberian diaspora plays a particularly important role.
Liberian professionals can offer technical expertise; hospitals and businesses can explore appropriate donations; churches, mosques, alum groups, and community associations can organize fundraising drives.
Recurring contributions and partnerships can give organizations like FALSWAR the stability to plan beyond individual shipments.
Supporting a credible nonprofit is not simply supporting its founder; it is helping advance a mission for the public good.
Such support must be matched by accountability.
As an established 501(c)(3) organization, FALSWAR should continue demonstrating responsible stewardship through clear financial records, shipment updates, transparent distribution practices, and communication with donors and beneficiaries.
Medical equipment must suit receiving facilities, and donations should address real community needs.
Public trust is earned through openness and measurable results.
Nonprofits can not replace the Liberian government’s responsibility to provide healthcare, education, infrastructure, and other essential services.
Yet they can complement those efforts, especially in underserved areas where resources remain limited.
Rather than waiting for perfect conditions, Liberians can contribute to practical improvements now.
FALSWAR’s recent shipments remind us that love for Liberia is best expressed through service.
Let us recognize those who give their time and resources, and let us strengthen organizations that put compassion into action.
Every volunteer hour, appropriate donation, and lasting partnership can help improve lives.
Liberians must support Liberians, not only with encouraging words but with organized, transparent, and sustained action.
