The striker, who has now scored two goals in the competition, showed his clinical edge in front of goal, breaking the deadlock in a match where Watanga fought bravely but could not find a way through. The result puts Global Pharma at the summit of Group B with six points from two games, guaranteeing their spot in the last four.

For Watanga, the defeat ends their campaign prematurely. Consecutive losses to Freeport FC and Global Pharma have left them mathematically out of contention, though they will still play their final group match.

Group B Picture Heats Up

In the group’s late kickoff, Freeport FC and Discoveries FC battled to a 0–0 stalemate. While it was a cagey affair, the draw ensured Freeport remained unbeaten with four points from two matches, while Discoveries picked up their first point of the campaign to stay alive in the race.

The stage is now set for a decisive final round on Sunday, August 31:

Global Pharma vs Freeport FC – Global Pharma have already advanced, but the outcome will determine who finishes top of Group B. Freeport need just a point to secure progression to the semifinals.

Watanga vs Discoveries FC – Watanga may already be out, but this match is crucial for Discoveries. On one point, they must beat Watanga and hope that Global Pharma defeats Freeport in order to sneak into the semifinals.

Group A Drama

Elsewhere, Bea Mountain picked up their first win of the tournament, edging Blackman Warriors 3–2 in a breathtaking contest.

Bea Mountain stormed into a 2–0 lead, only for the Warriors to claw back to 2–2. But in the dying minutes, Jenkins Sieh’s deflected strike sealed the victory, sparking wild celebrations from the Gold Boys’ supporters.

The result keeps Group A wide open, with  three teams  still in contention for a semifinal berth.

The Bettomax Champions Cup is more than just bragging rights. The winner of the tournament will walk away with the grand prize of US$10,000, while the runner-up receives US$5,000. Individual awards, including Golden Boot, Golden Glove, and Player of the Tournament are also expected  to be handed out.

With those rewards on the line, teams are leaving nothing to chance, and the intensity on the pitch reflects just how much the Cup means.

As the group stage winds down, the excitement is only building. Global Pharma are safely through, Freeport and Discoveries are locked in a race for survival, and in Group A, Bea Mountain’s dramatic win has blown the group wide open as Heaven Eleven now through to the semifinal.

For fans, the coming days promise thrills, heartbreak, and unforgettable football moments as the road to the Bettomax semifinals continues.
