We Are Builders, Not Destroyers — Weah Reaffirms Commitment to Rebuild CDC HQ, Rallies Party to “Save Nation from Mountebanks”

Weah urged partisans to remain resilient and united in what he described as a national effort to rescue Liberia from “charlatans and mountebanks.”

Monrovia – Former President George Manneh Weah has reaffirmed his commitment to rebuilding the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) national headquarters “in record time,” following the demolition of the party’s old headquarters earlier this year.

Speaking Saturday at the groundbreaking ceremony in Congo Town, Weah — in an apparent jab at the ruling Unity Party (UP) — said the CDC is a party that “builds, not destroys,” and remains steadfast in its mission to work for the Liberian people.

“Today’s ceremony is a testament to our resolve and commitment to work for the Liberian people, irrespective of their political, religious, and social affiliations,” Weah said.
“Despite the disregard for the rule of law by the Unity Party government, people continue to support us. Our nation has seen many breakdowns, but we are builders, not destroyers. The bricks we lay, we lead — they follow,” he added.

The former president, whose remarks were met with cheers from hundreds of party loyalists, emphasized that the CDC’s strength lies not in physical structures but in the dedication of its members.

“The CDC is not in the walls of the structure. The CDC lives in our hearts and minds. So, you can break the bricks; you can break the walls; but we remain standing, steadfast in our love and commitment to the ideals of our dear institution. The party is supreme; the CDC is supreme,” Weah declared.

The former president, addressing thousands of supporters, emphasized that the CDC’s strength lies not in physical structures but in the dedication of its members.

Weah also urged partisans to remain resilient and united in what he described as a national effort to rescue Liberia from “charlatans and mountebanks.”
“Let us work hard, because the Liberian people depend on us to deliver them from the hands of charlatans and mountebanks,” he said.

Spirit of Resilience

Saturday’s groundbreaking ceremony drew thousands of CDC partisans and sympathizers. Observers say the event, coming just two months after the party’s headquarters was demolished, has rekindled the CDC’s political energy and renewed hope among supporters for a strong comeback in the 2029 elections.
