Abuja, Nigeria – In consistent with her campaign for the girl child, Liberia’s Vice president Chief/ Dr. Jewel Howard-Taylor has received a prestigious award from the Coalition of Wives of Presidents and Vice Presidents in Africa-COWAP.
COWAP, according to a release, is the official organizer of the African Women Summit for Peace and Development held in Abuja, Nigeria.
The award is in recognition of Madam Howard-Taylor’s advocacy for the rights and improvement of the girl child.
The group seeks to engage past wives of Presidents and Vice Presidents in Africa as goodwill Ambassador for Africa’s Development, create a platform to engage with experts, academia policy makers, development practitioners and civil society on the role technology can play in driving development forward.
The release said, one of the distinguished personalities at the event, the Director of Kenya Law school professor Plo Lumumba, presented the award to the VP on behalf of the COWAP.
Speaking when she received the award, the Liberian first female Vice president dedicated to the award to the women of African.
She used the occasion to encourage women who attended the event to return to their respective countries and ensure that they continue to impact the lives of the less privileged in society.
VP-Howard-Taylor thanked the organizers for the gathering of prominent women who she believes can make a different in their respective countries.
In a related development, the West African Youth forum based in the Gambia has presented its 2018 most outstanding award to the Vice President of Liberia.
This award is for integrity and perseverance as well as the most strategically sound and forward looking personality, with measurable achievement in leadership, youth empowerment, and social-economic development within West African.
The Gender Officer in the Office of the Vice President Georgia Gage received the award on behalf of Madam Jewel Howard-Taylor.
