The Editor,
No doubt that the 2017 campaign period slipped down the dirty gutters.
Venom of desperation for political power and personal greed were carelessly speckled.
Mothers and fathers were insulted, lies were told, friendships scorched and characters vilified and injured.
It is my ardent plea to fellow Liberians that when the dust of campaign settles and later vanishes into oblivion at Midnight Sunday, 8th Oct, let the vices go along.
Truth be told, peace is the only development we need. No country develops in chaos, enmity and hatred among citizens.
None of the twenty Presidential candidates can solve all the problems, from abject poverty to the lack of infrastructure and economic development and growth in six years.
Not Possible! With objective ears and hearts and love for country, it becomes easy to vote the future of Liberia.
But with lack of opportunities and the public sector as major employer, who can blemish a voter throwing the ballot where there seems to be hope for a job.
Who can also blemish a man or a woman throwing a ballot to where he finds hope for the general good of the nation, believing Liberia flourishes we all flourish, rather than a few wealthy surrounded by swamps of poverty.
Though polarized on these fringes; though we all cannot agree, we all still remain Liberians.
This is the unity in diversity we must relish. The point of convergence will come. Let truth triumph over lies and reality over rhetoric.
These elections are extremely crucial and like never before require the greatest sense of patriotism and nationalism. Let us remain faithful to the loyalty we pledge to the Flag of Liberia.
Now therefore, the gavel of authority to crucify Liberia or pass a redemptive judgement is with you.
If we need patriotic and nationalistic leaders, we ourselves must be patriotic and nationalistic in our votes.
The contrary only temporarily feeds our ego and permanently hurts the nation.
Vote In Peace! Leave In Peace! And Let’s Live In Peace!
