Sports Writers Association of Liberia Hails Football Stakeholders

Monrovia – The Sports Writers Association of Liberia (SWAL) has hailed stakeholders of the just-ended elective congress of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) for electing its former president, Henry B. Flomo for the post of Executive Committee (EC) on April 14, 2018.

Mr. Flomo and eight others were elected as Executive Committee members of the LFA on April 14, 2018 at the Samuel Kanyon Doe (SKD) Sports Complex in Paynesville in a tense election. SWAL noted that with almost three decades in both sports reporting and management, the experienced Flomo can help the newly elected corps of officers of the LFA in a positive manner to steer the affairs of the LFA for a new four-year period.

Before being elected as a member of the LFA EC, the former SWAL president, Flomo last Wednesday, April 11, 2018, got a huge endorsement from sports writers in the country at the LFA Presidential debate at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS).

Mr. Flomo, who is currently the Communications Director at the National Elections Commission (NEC), previously served as Communications Director of the LFA and was once in the employ of the General Auditing Commission (GAC).

Flomo has decades of not just football administration, but sports in general as he formerly served as an executive of the Liberia Boxing Federation.

He is an advocate and someone who has contributed immensely to the growth and development of Liberian football.
He was the one who was consistent in his advocacy for the FIFA Goal project which led to an artificial turf at the ATS voicing out several ills with the incomplete stadium which was said to be refurbished.

“We want to thank all football stakeholders who voted for our former President. We made an honest appeal to you all and to vote for our former president and you obeyed. This shows that we are partners for the development of Liberian football. With almost three decades of sports reporting and management, especially where he is no stranger to the LFA, we believe that the election of Mr. Flomo as an EC member will go a long way in the development of Liberian football,” Roland M. Mulbah, President of SWAL indicated.

SWAL also expressed its heartfelt thanks and appreciations to stakeholders for the election of one of its devoted members Pawala Janyan to the EC.

Pawala’s contributions to football in the past have yielded fruitful results and the Sports Writers believes that his election will harness unity in the forward march of football sport in Liberia.
