Probate Court Reverses Judgment In Late Cllr.Jallah’s Property Saga

Monrovia – The Probate Court at the Temple of Justice Wednesday, August 15, recognized the widow of the late Cllr. David A.B. Jallah, Ophelia Randolph Jallah as the administrator of the Jallah’s property.

The ruling comes barely two months after granting letter of administration to the sister of the deceased, Miama Jallah Seke.

Judge Vinton Holder reversed ruling came as the result of a petition filed to the court by the widow of the late Cllr. Jallah, informing the court of being his the duly marriage wife.

Testifying on her own behalf at the court prior to the Judge granting her administrator status, Madam Ophelia Jallah, who currently resides in the United States, told the court that she got married to the late Cllr. Jallah in 1985 after nine years of dating and engagement and was blessed with three children – one girl and two boys.

“Let me say that after my husband died while en-route to Liberia I fainted at the airport and could not come on time for the funeral, but when I arrived in Liberia I realized that my Sister-In-Law has been given a letter of administrator for my property,” said Mrs. Jallah, who through her lawyer asked the court to revoke the letter of administration given earlier by the court to Madam Miama Jallah Seke.

Mrs. Jallah was represented at the court by former Chief Justice Henry Reeves Cooper.

She told the court that she has decided to return to the country and manage her properties since all of her three children have become grown-ups and, she, therefore, wanted the court to revoke the letter of administration handed over to Madam Jallah-Seke.

Upon her testimony at the court, Mrs.Jallah presented to the court a copy of her marriage certificate between she and the late Cllr. David Jallah.

After she has rested with the production of both oral as well as documentary evidence, presiding Judge Vinton Holder told the court in his ruling that document within the possession of the court had shown that the widow was duly married to the late Cllr. David Jallah as evidenced by the marriage certificate.

Said Judge Holder:“This court is convinced that the evidence presented by the petitioner demonstrates that she is married to the deceased the late Cllr. Joseph Jallah which cannot be denied, therefore the letter of administrator given by this court to Madam Miama Jallah Seke is hereby revoked and Madam Ophelia Jallah is recognized by this court as the administrator of the Jallah property.

But the ruling was rejected by Cllr Momolu Kandakai of the Gongloe &Associates and announced an appeal on behalf of Madam Miama Jallah Seke to the Supreme Court during its  October 2018 Term.
