Monrovia – Former journalist cum presidential contender, Carton Boah said it is shameful that the renovation of the Executive Mansion has been delayed.
Speaking at a press conference, Boah said for the past decade Madam Sirleaf abandoned the Executive Mansion, opting for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as her office.
Boah said it is unbelievable for the home of the Liberian presidency to be lying in ruins while President Sirleaf is enjoying her stay in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf herself has in the past expressed strong dissatisfaction over the pace and quality of on-going renovation works at the Executive Mansion.
nThe Liberian leader made the assertion when she paid a visit to the grounds of the Executive Mansion early Tuesday morning, May 6, 2014.
According to an Executive Mansion release, President Sirleaf was taken on a guided tour of the Executive Mansion, the official seat of the Liberian Presidency, to access progress on current renovation work by a female Liberian architect, Mrs. Karen Richards Barnes.
The former In Profile boss says it was better the Mansion was not burned down on the request of President Johnson Sirleaf.
“Thank God the Mansion was not burned down as it was requested by the President. If it were the case, by this time the Mansion was not going to be built by her,” he noted.
During the war days in Liberia, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf instructed rebels to destroy the Executive Mansion and was going to rebuild it in three days.
