President Boakai to Deliver Keynote, Receive Honor at 34th Africa Peace Awards in California

Sacramento, California – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai will serve as keynote speaker and distinguished honoree at the 34th Annual Africa Peace Awards Ceremony in Sacramento, California.

The invitation was extended by Luke Wood, President of California State University, Sacramento (Sac State), and has been formally accepted, organizers announced in a press release.

The Africa Peace Awards is an internationally recognized annual event that celebrates individuals and institutions for outstanding leadership, service, and commitment to peace, justice, and global harmony. This year’s ceremony is expected to draw global leaders, diplomats, academics, civil society representatives, business executives, and members of the international community.

Organizers say President Boakai’s participation underscores Liberia’s continued engagement in advancing reconciliation, democratic governance, and sustainable peace at both national and international levels.

The event is convened under the leadership of Ernest Uwazie, whose work in peace education and conflict resolution has helped shape the ceremony into a respected platform for dialogue and recognition. The 34th edition will honor select individuals and one institution whose contributions exemplify integrity, courage, and dedicated service to humanity, both in Sacramento and across Africa.

According to the organizers, President Boakai’s recognition is particularly significant given Liberia’s post-conflict history and its ongoing efforts toward accountability, unity, and long-term stability. His leadership, they noted, resonates strongly with Liberians at home and in the diaspora, as well as with peace advocates worldwide — including communities in California, where the event has attracted considerable interest.
