Monrovia – A technical cooperation agreement aimed at managing and sustaining database at the Ministry of Agriculture has been signed between the Liberian Government and United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

The program is in support of statistics and information management at the Ministry and also geared toward creating a change within the Liberian agriculture sector.
With the agreement, the Ministry of would be able to carry out a perfect monitoring and evaluation of its activities across the country.
Agriculture Minister Dr. Moses Zinnah said that the cooperation is in line with Liberia Agriculture Transformation Agenda.
Speaking during the signing ceremony at the Ministry of Agriculture Monday, he said, difficulties that the agriculture sector faced over the years was unprecedented and the need to improve could not be overlooked.
“I am very happy about this gesture from FAO which will enable people to get easy access to information,” said Zinnah.
The Agriculture Minister emphasized the need for implementation to the stage within the agriculture sector.
The agreement is in response to government request from FAO in improving agriculture productivity in Liberia, said FAO Representative Marc Abdala.
Adabla said the initiative would equally highlight activities by farmers who might be benefiting from agriculture endowments.
With the technical cooperation, Abdala believed farmers would reflect on their past activities, thus making a way for more improvement.
“This project implementation is gear at creating a change in Liberia’s agriculture sector,” Abdala averred.
Dr. Abdala also named date collection, analysis and monitoring, among others, as key issues the technical corporation would address.
He further noted that the bargaining would help in security challenges faced by the ministry by keeping track on all of its activities.
Abdala further pledged FAO continuous commitment to improve Liberia’s agriculture sector and to provide access for sustaining agriculture nationwide.
