Monrovia – The Director of Police, Col. Clarence Massaquoi is attending the first ever United Nations Chief of Police Summit being held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
Director Massaquoi left the country on Friday May 27, 2016, as head of a two-man Liberian Police Delegation to attend a United Nations Chiefs of Police Summit (UN COPS) the first ever organized by the United Nations, where the Secretary-General will deliver the opening remarks.
The Summit will examine new perspectives on national policing challenges and the benefits for officers deploying to United Nations peacekeeping operations.
Another key topic of discussion will be how best to enhance United Nations Police performance through intelligence, technology, innovation and Police capacity building. In addition, the summit will provide an opportunity for Member states to gain a better understanding on the current and projected needs of United Nation Police. The Summit runs from June 2 – 3, 2016.
Other members of the Liberian delegation include a representative from the Liberian Permanent Mission in New York and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Col. Edwin V. Hoff, I.
