Liberia: Woman Charged with Murder of 8-Year-Old Girl in Lofa County

Kanneh, who is reportedly the fiancée of the victim’s brother, was arrested shortly after the body was found.

Voinjama, Lofa County – Authorities in Lofa County have charged 20-year-old Musu P. Kanneh with the alleged murder of 8-year-old Siah John, whose lifeless body was discovered in an unfinished building in Voinjama City on January 26, 2025.

The tragic discovery was made early that morning near Kintoma Hill, sparking immediate investigations. A 15-member jury was convened to examine the circumstances surrounding the girl’s death, and their preliminary findings pointed to signs of foul play.

Kanneh, who is reportedly the fiancée of the victim’s brother, was arrested shortly after the body was found. She was formally charged with murder and appeared before the Voinjama City Magisterial Court on Tuesday, where the case was officially filed.

Authorities have yet to disclose a motive for the alleged crime, and details surrounding the incident remain unclear.

Meanwhile, the news has sent shockwaves throughout Voinjama City, with residents expressing deep sorrow and calling for justice for the young victim. The case has drawn widespread attention, with many in the community demanding swift and transparent legal proceedings.
