Saclepea, Nimba County — Senior Unity Party officials led a spirited dedication ceremony over the weekend in Saclepea City, Nimba County as the party officially opened a new District 7 Office, a move party leaders say will strengthen grassroots organizing and signal the administration’s resolve on national security issues, including the fight against illegal drugs.

Longtime party supporter Anthony Myers was honored during the ceremony after providing funds to secure the office space.
Party officials said Myers’ contribution helped fast-track renovations and furnished the office, creating a central point for District 7 Party activities, membership registration and constituent services.
Myers stood alongside party leaders as they cut the ribbon amid applause from local supporters.
Unity Party Secretary-General Amos Tweh, who led the dedication event, launched a fundraising drive on the spot by donating one million Liberian Dollars and calling on other party members and supporters to match his gift.
“We must resource this office so it can remain open, active and responsive to the people of District 7,” Tweh told the crowd.
He urged party members to contribute both funds and time to keep the office fully functional and to use the space as a hub for community outreach, voter education and local problem-solving.
Tweh used the occasion to praise what he described as a productive working relationship between President Joseph Boakai and Vice President Jeremiah Koung.
Speaking from the podium, he said their partnership was bringing the vice presidency into closer alignment with national responsibilities and improving coordination across government agencies.
He framed the District 7 Office as part of a broader effort to extend the administration’s presence at the local level.
On the issue of national security, Tweh reiterated the Boakai-Koung Administration’s commitment to intensify the fight against illegal drugs.
Citing a recent Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) Report, which he summarized for attendees, Tweh warned that drug use is a growing threat, affecting roughly one in ten young Liberians.
He noted that LDEA operations have led to the arrest of more than 30 suspects in recent months, and he issued a stark warning that high-profile individuals would not be exempt from prosecution.
“The law will take its course,” Tweh said, referencing the recent arrest of former Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor as evidence that no one is above the law.
Local Unity Party organizers described concrete plans to complement national security efforts with community-based prevention.
These include youth sensitization programs, partnerships with local schools and churches for drug education, and coordination with health services to expand treatment and counseling for substance users.
Party leaders said the new office would help coordinate those local initiatives and serve as a referral point for young people and families seeking assistance.
The dedication drew a cross-section of Nimba County political actors and supporters.
Victor Kpaiseh, Deputy Unity Party Campaign Manager for Nimba County, reaffirmed the party’s continued commitment across the county and pledged to scale up outreach efforts to recruit more Nimbaians into the party fold.

Representatives of allied parties also participated. P. Othello Mansuo Jr., speaking for the Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction (MDR) National Chairman, Cllr. Cooper W. Kruah, affirmed the MDR’s continued support for the Unity Party.
Mansuo described the Unity Party as a guiding force for MDR strategy in the region and pledged collective backing from MDR members across Nimba. He also made a financial contribution at the rally.
The Saclepea event included cultural elements that underscored local identity: drumming and traditional songs welcomed arriving guests, and elders gave short remarks praising peaceful collaboration between party factions.
