Liberia: Senator Cyrus Fulfils Campaign Promise to Women’s Football

MONROVIA — In a resounding demonstration of his commitment to gender equality and sports development, Lofa County Senator and Liberia Football Association (LFA) Executive Committee Member, Hon. Momo Tarnuekollie Cyrus, has fulfilled his campaign pledge to reinvest his football earnings directly into transforming women’s football in Liberia.

True to the promise made during this year’s LFA election, Senator Cyrus announced that 100 percent of his financial entitlements including sitting fees and official allowances earned from his position on the LFA Executive Committee will be allocated exclusively to the growth, promotion, and financial stability of the women’s game.

Handing over the initial donation of $800 USD on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, in Monrovia, Roland M. Mulbah coordinator of Senator Cyrus’s LFA EC campaign and Secretary General of LFA First Division club Gardnersville FC presented the funds to the leadership of the Women’s Football Association.

The money was turned over to Women’s Football Association president Mrs. Doris Mamai Bedell who appreciated the EC for living up to his promise.

Mulbah stated that the initial contribution stems from the Senator’s first two sitting allowances, reassuring the body that all future entitlements will be directed to the cause as well. He further urged the Women’s Football Association to utilize the funds strictly for the advancement and promotion of women’s football across the country.
