PLEEBO, Maryland County — Maryland County District #2 Representative, Anthony F. Williams, has officially commenced work on a sports stadium project while continuing major road rehabilitation efforts in Pleebo City as part of a 15-day development drive aimed at improving infrastructure and creating opportunities for youth in the county.

The initiative was launched on Saturday, March 6, during a ceremony held at the stadium construction site on the outskirts of Pleebo City.
The event brought together local government officials, staff of the lawmaker, youth representatives, and several community leaders.
The sports stadium project was initially broken ground in December 2025, while the roads rehabilitation initiative also began around the same period.
Speaking during the launching ceremony, Standford Neufville, Coordinator for Rep. Williams’ Home Office, disclosed that the 15-day development exercise will focus on clearing and leveling the pitch, marking an important step toward completing the first phase of the stadium project.
He stated that several major roads across Pleebo City will also be reopened during the exercise.
These include the road linking Zone 3 to the Negbachelu Community in Zone 4, Mission Town to Scoutville Bypass, Mission Town to Kataha Gate bypass as well as improvement works on the Pleebo Police Station Hill in Zone 3 and Total Freedom Hill in New Pleebo.
“For the next fifteen days, we will be working to clear and level the field as part of the stadium’s first phase,” he said.
“We will also resume the construction and rehabilitation of community roads as we started last year.”
Representing the Maryland Sports and Athletic Committee, Aweso Nyesuwah, lauded Rep. Williams for initiating the project, noting that the people of Pleebo have long desired a modern sporting facility.
“This project will greatly help in promoting sports and identifying talents among our young people,” he said.
Mr. Nyesuwah pledged the committee’s full support to ensure the successful completion of the project.
Also speaking at the event, Queeto Williams, Coordinator of the Pleebo City Youth, who spoke on behalf of the Maryland Youth Association, said young people in the city currently lack a well-defined recreational center.
“At the moment, the youth do not have a proper place for recreation,” he said.
“When this sports field is completed, it will serve many purposes for young people and the community.”
He thanked Rep. Williams for the initiative and assured that the youth of Pleebo will work along with the lawmaker to see the project completed.
Meanwhile, Pleebo City Mayor, Larry Geekor, speaking on behalf of the local government, welcomed the initiative and described it as a timely development effort for the city.
“Projects like this help to improve the city and create opportunities for our young people,” Mayor Geekor stated.
“The Pleebo City Corporation stands ready to cooperate with Representative Williams to ensure the success of this initiative.”
The 15-day development drive is expected to significantly improve sports infrastructure and road connectivity within Pleebo City, while also contributing to youth development and community growth in Maryland County.
