Monrovia – The new Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of the John F. Kennedy Medical Center, Dr. Sia Camanor, has expressed her gratitude and appreciation to President George Manneh Weah for the opportunity to serve her country.
Dr. Camanor was appointed by President Weah late August, but controversies surrounding blew up when document pertaining to the vetting process was posted to social media.
The document reveals that five persons – Doctors Benedict Kolee, Cuallau Jabbeh-Howe, Billy Johnson, Emmanuel K. Ekyinabah and Sia Wata Camanor, were vetted for the position. Dr. Kolee, according to the vetting score sheet obtained by FrontPageAfrica was rated the highest with 93.8%. Dr. Jabbeh-Howe finished second with 77.3 percent, Dr. Johnson, 73.3 percent, Dr. Ekyinabah, 68.5 and Dr. Camanor, 57.7 percent.
At the end of the process, Dr. Camanor’s name was reportedly forwarded to President Weah for appointment.
In a Ministry of Health statement, signed by its Communication Consultant, Sorbor George, Dr. Camanor further thanked the Liberian leader for the confidence reposed in her.
Dr. Camanor, who is a Pediatrician, said she recognized the enormous tasks associated with the position and vowed to succeed by working along with the leadership of the hospital’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Jerry Brown, other senior staffers and employees of JFK.
According to her, with the current team at JFK and the Ministry of Health’s leadership, President Weah’s ‘pro-poor agenda’ for health, including issues of accessibility and availability of healthcare would be actualized.
The experienced and qualified Medical Doctor with long years of service at the JFK recorded that the love she has had since for the people of Liberia, is the same love that made her return from South Africa seven years ago to serve her people.
The JFK CMO further expressed optimism that with the commitment and dedication of the JFK leadership and staff, the people of Liberia will be satisfied.
