Liberia: Man Found Dead after Going Missing on Farmington River in Margibi

Margibi County—The body of a man who reportedly went missing while attempting to cross the Farmington River has been recovered in Margibi County, Police authorities have confirmed.

The deceased, identified as Adonis Tubee Manweh, a resident of Small Pekin Farm, was reported missing on June 2.

According to report, the incident was first reported to the Margibi County Detachment of the Liberia National Police (LNP) by Borlola Township Commissioner Arthur G. Kollie.

Commissioner Kollie reportedly informed the Crime Services Department (CSD) of the LNP that Manweh had disappeared while attempting to cross the Farmington River from the Bassa side.

Initial reports suggested that he may have drowned during the crossing.

Following the report, officers of the Crime Services Department immediately launched a search operation along the river bank and surrounding communities in an effort to locate the missing man.

After two days of searching, the body of Manweh was recovered from the Farmington River on June 4.

A team of investigators, including officers of the LNP and a fifteen-member coroner’s jury proceeded to the scene and conducted a detailed joint physical examination of the body.

According to the findings, Manweh died as a result of drowning. Investigators reported that there were no visible signs of violence or foul play on the body.

Following the examination, the remains were identified and claimed by the deceased’s father,  Kortoe Johnson  and his uncle,  Robert Manweh, who signed for the body on behalf of the family for burial.

Police have findings declared that the death of Adonis Tubee Manweh resulted from an accidental drowning in the Farmington River.
