Monrovia – Police have arrested a man for allegedly issuing fake receipts to customers of the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC).

A Writ for Search and Seizure was done prior to the arrest of Quincy Boley, 30, who was caught in the act allegedly duplicating LEC receipt at the Morris Community Airline on Clay Street.
The operation that led to the arrest of the culprit was also done in collaboration with members of LEC.
At a joint press conference, Monday, July 2, representatives of both entities’ public affairs departments, said the act which the man accused was caught in has contributed to huge loss of revenue.
Deputy Police Commissioner Moses Carter and Information Public Affairs Officer Winston Bedell disclosed that officers effecting the arrest confiscated a Dell computer and presented it to the Monrovia Magisterial Court.
Both Carter and Bedell said the act by suspect Boley undermines the nation’s economy.
Bedell: “At some point in time, we had no meter so we gave people payment invoices to pay at the banks. This was done in order to further the flat rate process.”
According to him, the joint action by both entities is a warning to people who want to or are engaged in power theft.
According to him, most of their customers, who had been given the flat rate, their receipts were not being reflected when tallying was done through the LEC payable system.
He further stated that it took months before they could bust the culprit on Friday, June 29.
According to him, LEC’s losses to these vices amount to 61 percent in revenue intake and others.
